WINDSURFING CANADA --- PRESS RELEASE--- OCT. 15, 2004
===========================================
The Magdalen Islands will be the location of the 2005 Canadian Windsurfing
Championships!
RC Chair Eric Girard made the announcement yesterday, which brings the CNWC back
to this windsurfing paradise once again, on the traditional Labour Day week
August 27th to September 3rd, as guests of host Marc Boucher, director of La
Coupe des Iles.
The "Canadians" will crown the Canadian Windsurfing Champion Man and
Woman in the best overall performance in two of three disciplines: Course
(Formula, FE and Open), Slalom, and Freestyle/Waves, with important Pro/Gold
fleet cash prizes as well as Amateur/Silver fleet product prizes. This event
will also include the Grande Finale of 2005 Québec Windsurfing Tour, starting
off with regattas in Montreal, trois-Riviere and Lac St-Jean.
The emphasis of the windsurfing festival is FUN FOR ALL (hospitalité is spoken
here, with gourmet food and accommodation for all tastes). Hang out or join us
racing or in expression sessions on the lagoons and on the ocean. You are also
invited to race in the classic "Raid du bout du banc" long-distance
marathon, and in the speed trials with some these events continuing over the
following week, September 4th to September 10th.
On rare windless days, and for non-sailors, the Island archipelago is an
explorer's delight with its endless sand beaches, dunes and miniature forests.
And after sunset, the night life in the Island's “boîtes de nuit” will keep
everyone entertained to the max.
Windsurfing Canada proudly invites you to compete in the 2005
"Canadians" and at the same time enjoy one of Canada’s most superb
windsurfing and nature destinations!
