The 2004 Quebec Windsurfing Tour

In 2003, in collaboration with professional sailor Eric Girard and Windsurfing Canada, La Baie de Beauport  (Quebec City), hosted  over 3000 people for the first Festival du Vent. Spectators came on this sunny, windy weekend to cheer the windsurfing competitors as well as take part in a number of free clinics offered on-site. Over 125 people took advantage of the free windsurfing taster sessions offered over the weekend!
In 2004, we came back with the 2004 edition of the Quebec Windsurfing Tour. This time, five events were organized in different locations: Montreal, Trois-Riviere, Quebec City (2) and Lac-St-Jean. Formed on the same concept, the events were designed to promote the community of windsurfers and windsurfing in Quebec in the spirit of fun. These five competitions attracted the best windsurfers in eastern Canada to freestyle, slalom and racing competitions. Also, many friendly races, beginner clinics and advanced clinics were organized for those interested in learning about the sport of windsurfing. Each weekend included good music, cool animation and great prizes. The 100 competitors and thousands of participants won many draw prizes such as windsurfing equipment and trips to Maui, Hawaii.
We are more than happy with this experience as windsurfing event organizer: “Our goal is to promote windsurfing and what we have done this summer was the best way to reach our objective. We were able to introduce hundreds of participants, we had thousands of people on the beach and at the parties, and we added many new competitors to our sport. We also had coverage on TV, radio, the Web and in the news papers! What a success!!!”.
Behind each organization, there are many people helping to make it a success. We would like to thank Starboard, Maui, Windsurfing Canada, the APVM, Windsurfing Quebec, the ANBB, the Centre Nautique de Francheville, the numerous volunteers and the numerous participants for their outstanding and significant involvement at each event.
